Parque de las LucesLa CandelariaParque de las Luces occupies Plaza Cisneros, right downtown, facing the La Alpujarra administrative centre. It is made of three hundred concrete and metal posts up to twenty-four metres tall, arranged as an artificial forest that gives shade by day and lights up at nightfall with more than two thousand floodlights and well over a hundred floor lamps.- Top ratedMakabroEnvigadoSmall-plates gastrobar with an extensive cocktail bar and a lively night-time atmosphere. The concept mixes signature tapas, music and the dark aesthetic that gives it its name; it works just as well for a date as for a group night out.
- Muska RooftopBelloMuska occupies the ninth floor of the Edificio Isma, on Carrera 50, and is one of the few places in Bello with a terrace at height: from up there you see the town and, beyond it, the valley opening towards Medellín.
- Uva Café BarBelloSpecialty café-bar since 2012 and a landmark of the Gran Avenida neighbourhood. It blends coffee culture with a quiet night-time atmosphere, and is known for its artisan filter methods (Chemex, V60) and live music nights.
- Parque de El PobladoEl PobladoParque de El Poblado is the exact point where Medellín began. On 2 March 1616 Francisco de Herrera Campuzano founded San Lorenzo de Aburrá there, the first settlement in the valley, and a monument in the square records it.
- Varsovia BarCaldasCaldas's go-to rock bar for more than two decades; a meeting point for hanging out with good music.
- Fonda La Vecindad La 70LaurelesLa Vecindad is one of the taverns on the Carrera 70 corridor, on the Bulevar Libertadores de América, and works on the same code as its neighbours: big-plate paisa food, aguardiente and popular music at party volume.
- Teatro VictoriaEl PobladoThe Roof Garden of the Teatro Victoria is the highest floor of a Provenza building organised by rooms, and works as the end of the route: an open terrace where the night stretches out between music and cocktails.
- Comidas rápidas La ChozaBelloFast-food restaurant in Bello, open late at night, with an informal atmosphere for sharing.
- Bar El BlueEl PobladoNightclub with a lively atmosphere in El Poblado offering a musical alternative to the dominant reggaeton, focused on rock, electronic and crossover. It stands out for its eye-catching decor and appealing mix of genres.
- Bowland Santa FeEl PobladoBowland is the Santafé shopping centre's bowling alley, and works more as a night out than as a bowling hall: coloured lighting, loud music and a bar used as much as the lanes.
- Club Nocturno Perro NegroEl PobladoPerro Negro is one of the few Medellín clubs that made the journey outward: it was born here, in El Poblado, and has since opened houses in Miami and Madrid under the same name and the same sound.
- DeepEl PobladoElectronic music nightclub next to Parque Lleras with two music rooms, an inclusive atmosphere and reasonable prices. Popular with the LGBTQ+ community and international travellers. On clear nights it leaves the roof open so you can see the sky.
- Despecho PalmasBuenos AiresSala de Despecho arrived at Alto de Las Palmas in 2025 with a very specific premise: a place built for singing despecho without asking permission — in Colombia both a genre and a way of getting through things.
- La House ProvenzaEl PobladoLa House Provenza sits at the exact centre of the Provenza circuit and its format is continuous party: it opens mid-afternoon and does not stop until dawn, every day of the week.
- La Octava BarEl PobladoLa Octava sits on Calle 8, in Provenza, and its appeal is that it does not settle on one mood: one floor goes for rock and the other for reggaeton and salsa, so a group with different tastes does not have to negotiate.
- Mercado del RíoCiudad del RíoMercado del Río occupies an industrial shed in Ciudad del Río, a few steps from the Museum of Modern Art, and works as a food hall with ambition: 22 restaurants, 5 bars and 3 craft breweries sharing long tables and a bar.
- Salón AmadorEl PobladoSalón Amador opened in 2014 and is the electronic club with the most weight in Medellín: where the international names passing through the city play, and where much of the local scene was formed.
- VintrashEl PobladoVintrash occupies a multi-storey house in the middle of Provenza and its signature is recycling: much of what you see is built from reclaimed material, over an aesthetic that looks to the sixties.
- Zendaya Retro HouseSabanetaRetro-style bar linked to the Yazen Coffee Studio brand in Sabaneta. It serves craft beers and cocktails in a space with its own visual identity. Open from late afternoon into the night.
Before you go
Night-time in Medellín is not only clubs. This collection gathers what works once the sun goes down: bars and fondas, Provenza's clubs, gastrobars, a bowling alley, Mercado del Río with its food stalls in Ciudad del Río, and even open-air places such as Parque de las Luces, which lights up at night, or the Parque de El Poblado, a meeting point before heading out.
An easy way to build the evening is to raise the intensity as you go: start with food at a market or gastrobar, move on to a bar with live music and finish, if you still have the energy, at a club. For something less touristy, Laureles, Bello, Envigado, Sabaneta and Caldas have bars with a local crowd and prices at $ and $$; El Poblado has the most expensive and busiest options.
The Metro does not run all night, so plan your way home from the start: a taxi or ride-hailing car ordered from the venue. Go out with only what you need, carry your ID in case the door asks for it, and avoid walking long stretches alone in the small hours, even in areas that feel very calm by day.
