Community policies

ParchesNow exists so people leave the house and meet. These policies say what belongs here, what does not, and what happens when someone crosses the line. They apply to everything published: profiles, posts, comments, reviews, contributed places, club names and plan messages.

1. Three principles

These three explain almost every decision we make:

  1. What happens here ends up happening on the street. A plan is not a thread: it is people meeting somewhere real.
  2. Information has to be true. A made-up opening time or a paid review ruins someone's evening.
  3. Nobody should have to put up with harassment to use the platform.

2. What is not allowed

We remove content and act on the account when there is:

  1. Harassment, threats, intimidation or pile-ons against a person.
  2. Hate speech or discrimination by origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or identity.
  3. Violence, incitement to harm or glorification of an attacker.
  4. Explicit sexual content, and absolutely any sexual material involving minors, which is also reported to the authorities.
  5. Sale or promotion of drugs, weapons, forged documents or any illegal goods and services.
  6. Impersonating a person, a venue or ParchesNow.
  7. Publishing another person's personal data —address, phone, ID, location— without their permission.
  8. Sharing screenshots of a private conversation to expose someone.
  9. Spam, undisclosed advertising, misleading links and scams.
  10. Someone else's content published as your own, or with rights you do not hold.

3. Places and reviews

A contributed place must exist, be where you say it is and be described as it really is. Photos must be yours or used with permission, and show the venue, not the people who happened to be inside.

A review tells your real experience. Paid reviews, reviews of venues you never visited and reviews written to sink a competitor are not allowed. If you are connected to the venue —you run it, work there, it belongs to family— say so or do not review it.

Catalogue errors get fixed: if opening hours changed or a venue closed, report it and we update it.

4. Plans and meetups

A plan describes what is actually going to happen: where, when and what it is about. Plans are not for selling, funnelling people elsewhere or organising anything illegal.

If your plan involves alcohol or restricted entry, say so in the description and do not invite people who cannot be there.

Whoever creates the plan moderates its thread and can remove anyone breaking it. That does not replace a report: if someone behaves badly, report it too.

5. Clubs

A club is a space with an owner: whoever creates it sets its topic, its internal rules and who gets in, and answers for these policies being followed inside.

A club cannot exist to harass, to exclude on discriminatory grounds or to organise anything banned in section 2. We close entire clubs whose purpose is that.

6. Fair play

Reputation, missions and rankings only mean something if they are earned. Multiple accounts, fake visits or check-ins, automation and coordinating between accounts to inflate metrics are not allowed.

Anything obtained that way is removed, and the account may be excluded from rankings.

7. Purchases and store

Fraudulent returns, false warranty claims, using someone else's payment method and reselling outside what was agreed are not allowed. These close the account and may be reported.

8. How to report

Every post, comment, review, place, plan and profile can be reported. Tell us what you saw and why you think it breaks the rules: a report with context is resolved far faster.

If someone is in immediate danger, call the authorities first. We are not an emergency service.

Reporting in bad faith, en masse or to silence someone also breaks these policies.

9. How we review

Reports are reviewed by a person with the content and its context in front of them. We look at what was said, where, who it was aimed at and whether it is repeated behaviour.

We prioritise by harm: anything putting someone at risk goes first. While we review we may limit a piece of content's reach, and if the report does not hold up it comes back as it was.

10. What measures we take

The measure fits the severity and the repetition, and does not always start at the first step:

  1. A warning, explaining which rule was broken.
  2. Removal of the content or the contributed place.
  3. Reach limits: no longer recommending the content or the profile.
  4. Temporary restriction of features, such as posting, creating plans or commenting.
  5. Temporary account suspension.
  6. Permanent closure, and a report to the authorities where the act is a crime.

11. How to appeal

If you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice you received or write to support within thirty days, telling us why. Someone other than the person who made the decision reviews it.

If the appeal succeeds we restore what was removed and lift the restriction. If not, we explain what we based it on.

12. Requests from authorities

We answer requests from competent authorities when they arrive through legal channels. We hand over only what the order asks for, keep a record, and unless legally barred we tell the person affected.

13. Changes to these policies

The platform changes and so do these rules. We publish the version in force here, with its date, and announce significant changes inside the product.
