Before you go
Medellín's nightlife has a reputation, and most of the clubs on this list are in El Poblado, in and around Provenza. There is something for every taste: electronic music at places like Deep or Salón Amador, reggaeton and crossover at multi-floor clubs like Teatro Victoria or La House Provenza, and Colombian heartbreak songs at places like Despecho Palmas, where the whole room sings along.
Prices run from $$ to $$$ and can climb quickly if your group orders a table with a bottle, which is the usual way to go out as a crowd. Some places charge a cover at the door depending on the night or the guest DJ, and nearly all of them ask for ID. Dress can be casual but neat: at the more exclusive clubs, skip flip-flops and shorts.
Parties start late, and Friday and Saturday are the big nights. Keep an eye on your drink at all times, never accept drinks from strangers, and agree with your group on how you will get home. When you leave, order a ride-hailing car from inside and wait for it at the door, rather than walking around looking for a taxi in the small hours.
