RecommendedNemoratto RooftopEl PobladoAn urban oasis on the 6th floor of the 4 Sur Hotel, ideal for escaping the noise of the city. It stands out for its abundant vegetation, 360-degree panoramic views of Medellín and a food offer that fuses high Italian cuisine with local ingredients. Its casual, modern atmosphere is complemented by live music and a select signature cocktail list.- Top rated360 Rooftop Bar & RestauranteEl PobladoThe 360 Rooftop crowns the Haven Medellín, a design hotel in El Poblado, and its name describes exactly what it offers: the city seen in every direction from the roof.
- Zarzo Rooftop BarEl PobladoEl Zarzo is the rooftop of the boutique hotel of the same name, on the sixth floor of a Provenza building. It is one of the small ones: the terrace is not chasing capacity but atmosphere, and it shows in the fact that you can hold a conversation.
- Muska RooftopBelloMuska occupies the ninth floor of the Edificio Isma, on Carrera 50, and is one of the few places in Bello with a terrace at height: from up there you see the town and, beyond it, the valley opening towards Medellín.
- La Deriva Rooftop BarEl PobladoLa Deriva is the roof of the Click Clack Hotel, in El Poblado, and its idea is explicit: build a beach in the middle of the valley. Pool, loungers, communal tables and bar stools, with the city and the mountains around.
- Panorama Rooftop barLaurelesPanorama is one of the Medellín rooftops that bets on vegetation before height: three landscaped levels working as a green breather in the middle of the built city, with the urban silhouette behind.
- 16 Sky BarEl PobladoThe 16 Sky Bar sits on the top floor of the Hotel Estelar Square, in El Poblado, and its open terrace runs the full way round the building: the view reaches the hills on one side and the valley on the other.
- Cierto Rooftop MedellínEl PobladoCierto occupies the terrace of the Hotel Landmark, in the Manila sector, and its argument is the panorama: from up there the Aburrá valley reads in almost every direction, with the El Poblado hills in front.
- Envy RooftopEl PobladoEnvy occupies the top two floors of the Hotel The Charlee, in the middle of El Poblado, and its most recognisable feature is the aquarium-style pool cutting across the upper level.
- Mosquito RooftopEl PobladoMosquito occupies the roof of The Somos Beats hotel, in El Poblado, and its register is more party than contemplation: bar and restaurant with music, a group atmosphere and cocktails as the main argument.
Before you go
Rooftops have become one of the most sought-after plans in Medellín, and it makes sense: the mild climate lets you sit outside nearly all year, and the city, seen from above and ringed by mountains, looks especially good at night. Most on this list are on hotel terraces in El Poblado, with cocktails, music and, in some cases, a pool.
Expect prices at $$$ and up to $$$$: you pay for the view and the atmosphere as much as the drink. If you want something more relaxed and affordable, there are options outside El Poblado too, such as Panorama in Laureles or Muska in Bello, where the crowd is more local. Zarzo, in Provenza, is one of those that add live music to the terrace.
Sunset is the most requested time, so book if you want a table at the edge, especially Thursday to Saturday. Bring a layer: it is windier up there and the temperature drops once the sun goes down. Since it often rains in Medellín in the afternoon, ask whether the place has a covered area. In the evening it pays to dress up a little, and those inside hotels may ask for ID at the door.
